Customer Checklist For Installations

GENERAL NOTES:

The information in the quote contains only what has been allowed for. This includes, but is not limited to, the floor preparation, supply and fitment of trims, the product, the area(s) quoted for installation, any previous flooring take up and the moving of furniture etc. If you require Kawana Flooring to do anything additional to what is stated on the quote, please let us know.

1. The quotation is based on the floors being in a suitable condition to receive floorcoverings. It shall be the responsibility of the client to present the subfloors in a condition to receive the floorcoverings in accordance with Australian Standard NZS.1-2007. It shall be the responsibility of the other trades to clean and remove their own materials, equipment, and waste prior to our commencement of the installation. Should any floor preparation be required, this would be charged as an extra to the contract.

2. Where take up of existing floor coverings has been quoted, our quote allows for manual take-up of existing flooring only. Should non-standard adhesives be used, and mechanical strippers be required, this will be charged as an extra, subject to variation approval.

3. This quotation allows for the preparation of areas receiving vinyl flooring, of up to a single skim coat or prime and 3mm screed coat (depending on option selected). Should any floor preparation outside this be required, this would be charged as an extra to the contract.

4. The floor preparation included in this quotation is to smooth out the subfloor. Any existing undulations may be slightly visible under certain light conditions, and existing falls will remain.

5. Please note that no cost has been allowed to rectify floors where the under-slab membrane has been damaged or removed. You must advise us if this does occur, as a moisture barrier may be required.

6. It is the client's responsibility to provide details of any active subfloor joints, including direction and extent of possible movement.

7. While all care will be taken, Kawana Flooring will not accept any responsibility for problems caused by existing floor preparation separating from the original subfloor.

8. Fumes/dust/heat emitted during installation may set off smoke or fire alarms and enter air conditioning. It is the client’s responsibility to deactivate such alarms, and to isolate/turn off air conditioning prior to our commencing and during installation.

9. Fire sprinklers may be affected by heat produced during our installation. It is the responsibility of the client to provide a solution to prevent this occurring.

10. If your quote includes the moving of furniture, then please ensure everything possible is moved off the floor area to be done. Only leave the large bulky items for the installer to move. This also includes the disconnection of all electrical appliances. There will be an additional charge for furniture removal.

11. After new flooring has been installed, some door heights may require adjustment. This is the responsibility of the customer.

12. In order to prevent fading/sun damage, we highly recommend some form of window covering or tinting as this damage is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty

13. All new floorcoverings should be cleaned & maintained in line with Suppliers specific recommendations to ensure compliance with warranty & slip resistance requirements. Cleaning guidelines are available from each Suppliers website or Kawana Flooring can provide upon request. Charges may apply for rectification of defects identified because of poor cleaning, maintenance and/or protection of floorcoverings.

    VINYL (PLANK & TILE) NOTES:

    1. The individual planks will be laid in a random stagger pattern. Some predominant features may be noticeable, as they are repeated at random across the floor.

    2. The vinyl(s) selected will have a factory Oil-ramp test (R) rating and/or a Pendulum test rating and either are acceptable by the National Construction Code. It is the specifiers or certifiers responsibility to advise what preconstruct ratings are required for all parts of the fit-out. Results of in situ Pendulum tests carried out after hand-over cannot be predicted and Australian Standard requirements do not apply to these.

    3. It is the client’s responsibility to protect the flooring from wear, damage, or contamination prior to hand-over.

    4. The floor should be protected from furniture and grit using furniture pads and entry mats.

    5. We recommend areas under or near desks where roller castor type chairs may be in use, be given extra protection in the form of desk pads or keyhole mats.

    6. While polish may be applied to the vinyl flooring, it is not required by the manufacturer, and will need continued upkeep. Please note that any polish will be softer than the flooring’s factory wear-layer, and care must be taken to avoid furniture drag marks and scuff marks in the actual polish.

    7. The floor should be swept regularly, and cleaned, as required by the manufacturer.

    8. Where we are installing vinyl planks/tiles beside existing matching vinyl planks/tiles, please note there may be significant differences between old and new products including dye batch / colour variations, wear and tear and fading.
